Lymphoedema
Lymphoedema occurs as a result of a failed lymphatic system, failing to manage the demand of lymphatic fluid which exceeds the capacity of the lymphatic circulation.

Lymphoedema is a condition where the accumulation of excessive amounts of protein-rich fluid in the tissue results in swelling of one or more regions of the body.

Lymphoedema usually affects the limb(s) although it may also involve the trunk, breast, head and neck or genital area.

Lymphoedema mainly affects people after cancer treatment. Other causes also found to affect the lymphatic system are;
-
Obesity
-
Fractures
-
Surgery
-
Auto-Immune Dysfunction
Evidence is also emerging around reduced wound healing when in combination with lymphoedema involvement.
